Jets Minicamp Wraps Up Today; Several Star Players And Staff Emerge In Practices
Not everyone has showed up as potential starters going into the final day of the three-day veteran minicamp. But several standouts have been noted, including coaches and QB 1 Justin Fields.
The Jets mandatory minicamp wraps up Thursday, and several players and staff members are separating themselves from the rest of the pack.
On Wednesday, battling rain and heat, it was reported that QB 1 Justin Fields is a “workaholic” and continues to improve in his new offense.
His leadership and knowledge of the offense “is a big part of his game,” says beat writer Nick Faria.
Jets offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who is also earning props from players and sideline observers, praised Fields workmanlike attitude, arriving early, staying after practice, and making sure everything is correct on the field.
Faria also noted some of Fields negative tenancies, which have been already documented and still need to get worked out.
Those include holding on to the ball too long at times and accuracy issues.
Still, the team thinks it can tap into his proven skills and create a new offense around him, Faria stated.
Other players in key positions who have shined include WR 1 Garrett Wilson and WR Josh Reynolds, who some say is making a play for WR 2.
