The Immaculate Interception: Who Will be The First Jet To Get A Pick In Two Years?

The Jets haven't had an interception since 2024. Several targeted offseason moves were designed to fix the problem.

According to Jet X beat writer Michael Nania, five names have percolated to the surface.

• While Azareye’h Thomas hasn’t been painted yet into the starting rotation, he’s a comer, Nania reports. A third-round pick in 2025, he had a solid rookie season. Not known for ball hawk skills, he could step into that role is he wins the starting outside cornerback position in 2026.

• CB D’Angelo Ponds, based on his performance in college, is a candidate for the team leader in interceptions should he win a starting position. The second round pick in this year’s draft thinks he has the right stiff, reports Nania, and the rookie could have a clear path given the talent deficit of the current DB roster.
